The University of Washington-IT is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Associate Vice President of IT and Chief Financial Officer. This unique opportunity requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership qualities, financial acumen, and a passion for driving innovation and excellence in IT and finance.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing short-term and long-term financial strategies to sustain UW-IT's funding model. This includes managing the organization's annual operating budget of $165 million, overseeing procurement processes, contract management, and asset/inventory management, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of leadership, financial planning, and management, with a proven ability to navigate complex organizational landscapes and drive change. They will be an effective communicator, able to articulate complex ideas persuasively to a diverse range of stakeholders, and possess a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of UW-IT's new financial model, collaborating with other UW-IT leaders to manage competing priorities, and fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and shared accountability within the organization.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing financial strategies to support UW-IT's evolving goals and the University's new technology strategic plan.
  • Managing the organization's financial systems, producing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing procurement processes, contract management, and asset/inventory management.
  • Providing leadership, mentoring, and accountability for all staff within the division, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
  • Collaborating with other UW-IT leaders to manage competing priorities and drive change.
