Associate Director of Development

Join the University of Minnesota's Advancement Team as an Associate Director of Development, playing a key role in securing major gifts to support the College of Science and Engineering's strategic initiatives.
About the RoleThe Associate Director of Development will identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors, with a focus on securing major gifts exceeding $50,000. This role requires a strong understanding of higher education and the power of science and engineering to drive positive change.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain a portfolio of approximately 100 individuals, ensuring timely steps toward solicitation, closure, and stewardship of major gifts.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the College of Science and Engineering's vision, impact, and philanthropic priorities.
- Collaborate with CSE leadership, department heads, faculty, staff, and volunteers to develop development strategies and identify and cultivate prospects.
- Effectively craft and present compelling cases for support to prospects and donors.
- Work strategically and collaboratively with University of Minnesota Foundation teams to raise private gift support for CSE's strategic campaign initiatives.
- Travel across the Twin Cities metro area and to key geographic areas as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree and minimum of four years of professional development experience, or equivalent experience in marketing, sales, PR, or a related field.
- Willingness to enter a highly collaborative, fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a wide array of audiences.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse communities.
- Proficient in the use of software and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google, with familiarity with databases and/or Customer Relationship Management programs.
- Access to reliable transportation for local travel, with willingness to staff occasional evening and weekend events and travel nationally several times per year.
- Fundraising campaign experience and a proven history of successful major gift solicitation.
- Previous higher education development experience.
