Labeling Compliance and Specification Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Labeling Compliance and Specification Specialist to join our team at Management Recruiters of Zionsville. As a key member of our Quality Assurance department, you will be responsible for ensuring all product labeling meets USDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and compliant labels from product development through market launch
  • Create box labels through our ERP system, ensuring functionality and regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate new product set-ups, including specifications, packaging, and ERP data entry
  • Submit sketch approvals for FSIS LSAS approval and maintain records of label submissions and approvals
  • Complete USDA generic label approvals and maintain product specifications for internal and external use
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Research USDA Export Library as needed for new export markets
  • Create and maintain internal specification tools to assist operations and auditing
  • Use QMS software to develop and update auditing forms and resources
  • Maintain customer portals for specifications and product attributes
  • Drive consistency and effectiveness related to GDSN and GS1 standards, including assigning GTINs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Animal Science, or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of USDA labeling regulations
  • 3-5 years of experience in food labeling compliance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Highly organized and motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience in BarTender labeling software, SAP, and SafetyChain is beneficial
  • Knowledge of GDSN and GS1 standards and barcode formats is preferred
