Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Fort Zumwalt R-II School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe and attractive environment for our staff and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance tasks as needed, including grounds care, painting, and minor repairs.
  • Assist in the assembly and installation of classroom furniture and equipment.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on district equipment and vehicles.
  • Repair and maintain district facilities, including asphalt potholes and parking lots.
  • Make deliveries throughout the district as needed.
  • Assist maintenance II and III employees with their projects as needed.
  • Perform record keeping and inventory to ensure accurate and efficient work orders.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and supplies from trucks.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance and wear district uniforms at all times when performing maintenance duties.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Hold a valid chauffeur's license or obtain one within one month of employment and maintain a good driving record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance foreman or designee.
  • Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
Mental and Physical Demands

The successful candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality, reason, and make appropriate decisions. They must also be able to work well under pressure and negotiate conflict situations as they arise.

The physical demands of this role include regularly reaching, climbing, bending, standing, and walking. The employee must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.

Environmental Conditions

The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold.

Terms of Employment

Employment will be on an at-will basis for 12 months with two weeks' vacation, beginning July 1, or from the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated vacation and/or personal leave.

The work calendar will be established by the Assistant Superintendent and may be modified by the Board of Education at any time.

The yearly salary will be disbursed in 24 equal payments.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
