About the Role

The City of Peoria, Arizona is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Economic Development Services Director to lead our economic development efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract new businesses, encourage expansion and retention of existing businesses, and promote a stronger economic base for our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Attraction and Retention: Develop and implement strategies to attract new businesses and encourage expansion and retention of existing businesses.
  • Industry Outreach and Representation: Attract new national and international businesses and industries to locate in Peoria, and represent the City at meetings, presentations, and trade shows.
  • Collaboration and Partnership Building: Work with City officials and management to ensure support and coordinate economic development activities, and integrate environmental sustainability and diversity in economic development strategies.
  • Workforce Development: Work with regional groups to address the workforce development needs of the City and west valley for the purpose of targeted industry attraction.
  • Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to attract targeted industries to the City.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and administer the annual department budget by forecasting revenues and expenditures, presenting proposals for approval, authorizing payments, and monitoring expenditures for recommended adjustments.
  • Advisory Board Leadership: Serve as a representative on advisory boards at regional, state, and national levels, and respond to media, resident, and business inquiries.
  • Policy Monitoring: Monitor legislation and regulations relating to economic development, and report findings to appropriate impacted parties.
