Job Summary:

As a Nursing Care Coordinator Assistant at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, you will play a vital role in the coordination of nursing care on a shift within a specific unit. You will assist the Nurse Manager in supervising all nursing activities related to patient care, ensuring a high level of quality and safety. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees, promoting a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center.
  • Contribute to Performance/Quality Improvement activities, including data collection, analysis, and implementation of risk management and claims activities.
  • Administer nursing care based on scientific and therapeutic principles, demonstrating a competent level of technical skill.
  • Coordinate staff activities in the performance of the nursing process, ensuring patient needs are met through appropriate personnel assignment.
  • Participate in patient care conferences, reviews, and analyses of trends pertinent to nursing care delivery.
  • Recommend innovations and evaluate current and changing needs of the nursing unit, making recommendations to the Nurse Manager.
  • Participate in relevant conferences and seminars, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in nursing practice.
  • Provide care based on age-specific needs, using communication techniques appropriate for the age group.
  • Assist in preparing time schedules, daily staffing, and recommending staff or supplemental staff coverage.
  • Make recommendations regarding your schedule to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Identify needs to the clerical staff, recommending changes in nursing practice and policy through the Nurse Manager or nursing committee.
  • Behave in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees.
  • Participate in the departments Performance Improvement activities, maintaining patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to maintain adequate material resources, verifying that equipment is safe and appropriately utilized.
  • Supervise personnel in the absence of the Nurse Manager, responsible to the Nurse Manager of the unit.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff in meeting patient and unit needs, promoting inter and intra departmental communications to provide continuity of patient care.
  • Participate in departmental committees, utilizing learning resources and participating in the development of other staff members.
  • Meet regulatory licensure and annual health assessment requirements, demonstrating a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families, and significant others.
  • Display courtesy, tact, and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community, projecting a professional image through behavior, grooming, and attire.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities, commitment to continuing professional development through appropriate continuing education.
  • NYS Registered Professional Nurse License.
  • Bachelors in Nursing or related field.
