Position Overview

The Aerospace Corporation is in search of a Program Finance Manager to bolster our Advanced Technology Division. In this capacity, you will report directly to the CFO of the National Systems Group (NSG) and serve the ATD General Manager as your primary stakeholder. Your role will involve acting as a trusted financial consultant across all levels of the division, delivering essential financial data, trend analysis, and predictive insights necessary for Aerospace to fulfill its commitments to clients and achieve its objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a vital member of the organizational and corporate management teams; provide strategic business advice to senior leaders and organizational managers; significantly contribute to the formulation of administrative strategic plans and business processes.
  • Be part of the Finance organization while also being a matrixed member of the Program Planning & Control (PP&C) organization, supporting the ATD General Manager; establish standard corporate procedures to enhance organizational and corporate management.
  • Serve as the main business liaison with senior-level clients; maintain strong working relationships with customer counterparts to secure contractual authorizations and funding adjustments.
  • Implement corporate-standard financial processes, tools, and routines within the ATD organization, enhancing compliance and efficiency; oversee the development and upkeep of baselines and forecasts that align with the program and corporate financial plan.
  • Manage the delivery of financial plans and forecasts for both direct and indirect funded activities at the organizational and project levels; analyze various budgets and variances, drive corrective actions, and maintain organizational metrics for informed decision-making.
  • Support strategic initiatives at both the NSG and corporate levels.
  • Keep the NSG CFO and ATD General Manager informed about financial trends and organizational performance, recommending corrective measures to meet financial targets.
  • Facilitate and advise on value-informed procurement and investment decisions.
  • Assist in financial training for new technical managers.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical capabilities; proactive in evaluating data and variances to inform future performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Experience in baseline management, forecasting, and cost/schedule integration techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing precise reports.
  • Experience in program management reporting, risk management tracking, and corrective action planning.
  • Expertise in strategic planning and deployment of comprehensive financial services across a geographically dispersed organization.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust quickly at all organizational levels.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills, capable of making critical decisions and influencing others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of organizing complex materials clearly and persuasively.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance issued by the US government.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous if you possess:

  • An MBA, CPA, or advanced degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Prior experience as a Financial or Program Control Manager.
  • Experience within a research or FFRDC environment.
  • Two or more years of experience in a US government contracting environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building trusted relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of governmental budgeting systems and practices.
  • Understanding of cost accounting standards and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Critical thinking skills to determine viable ideas and anticipate customer needs.
