ROLE SUMMARY:

As a Peer Advocate, you will be integrated into a Street-based Multidisciplinary Team, actively engaging with single adults experiencing homelessness. Your duties will encompass delivering outreach services, providing peer-to-peer support grounded in your personal experiences, and helping participants access vital resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute mobile outreach initiatives to connect with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Encourage participants to utilize services and community resources
  • Serve as a bridge between participants and organizational staff
  • Offer constructive feedback to enhance service delivery based on personal insights
  • Implement a Harm Reduction and Housing First methodology
  • Connect participants to essential services and facilitate their access
  • Maintain precise records while adhering to ethical standards
  • Share personal narratives to bolster participant well-being
  • Participate in meetings and complete assigned tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess lived experience with homelessness
  • Exhibit empathy and a non-judgmental demeanor
  • Demonstrate a high tolerance for individuals with diverse mental and physical health needs
  • Possess foundational knowledge of challenges faced by homeless individuals
  • Peer Partner/Advocate/Mentor Training is preferred
  • Exhibit flexibility, customer service skills, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based scheduling tools
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is advantageous
