POSITION SUMMARY
To provide assistance, support, and collaboration with educators, administrators, and other team members in delivering educational benefits to students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative and not exhaustive of all tasks performed in this role.

Engages with individual students or small groups to reinforce the learning of concepts or skills initially introduced by certified educators.

Collaborates with certified staff to develop tailored strategies for enhancing learning materials and skills, grounded in a compassionate understanding of each student's unique needs, interests, and abilities.

Monitors student work, provides feedback, and oversees curriculum-based assessments and make-up assignments as directed by certified staff.

Acts as the primary resource for any substitute teacher in the absence of the regular certified staff.

Performs clerical, classroom upkeep, and instructional tasks as assigned by certified staff. Notifies certified staff of any issues or pertinent information regarding individual students.

Assists with classroom management, including organizing instructional materials and providing support in a computer lab setting.

Handles assigned non-instructional classroom responsibilities, such as overseeing snack time, assisting with toileting, and managing clothing routines.

Exhibits ethical behavior and maintains confidentiality regarding student information within the school and community.

Participates in approved in-service training programs.

Ensures a safe working environment and promotes safety awareness among colleagues in all school-related duties.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Students, as requested by the administrator or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, an individual must effectively perform each essential duty. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to fulfill essential functions.

Knowledge:
Experience working with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher, under the teacher's supervision.

Skills:
Ability to manage children's behavior under the direction of the teacher.

Abilities:
Acceptance of physical, mental, and/or behavioral differences in children. Sensitivity to the feelings and needs of children. Capability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education; or possession of an associate's (or higher) degree or Paraprofessional Assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics; or completion of the district's certification pathway with an acceptable record.

CERTIFICATION
No specific certification is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work:
Involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work typically involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally, provided all other sedentary criteria are met. Specific vision abilities required for this role include the ability to adjust focus.
