About the Role:

The Cafeteria Operations Manager will oversee the daily management and performance of the on-campus cafe. This role involves making operational decisions and contributing to strategic planning to enhance the program. Additionally, this position will play a key role in shaping the cafe experience as we expand to other locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, including managing schedules and payroll, and collaborating with HR on employment issues.
  • Act as the primary liaison for school administrators.
  • Implement existing and develop new standard operating procedures for service and cafe operations.
  • Maintain an organized and clean environment for faculty.
  • Manage daily and weekly inventory, including ordering and receiving supplies.
  • Coordinate logistics for supply pickups.
  • Collaborate with marketing for special themed events and merchandising.
  • Ensure proper product rotation and code date management.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings and daily check-ins.
  • Work with the internal customer service team to address any issues.
  • Oversee shrink and waste management.
  • Engage in hands-on operations and manage day-to-day activities.
  • Be available to address emergency situations involving the team or cafe.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities and develop execution plans, including assessing economic impacts.
  • Supervise nearby routes servicing other educational institutions.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in food management, ideally in cafe, catering, or small restaurant settings.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Hangouts, etc.).
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Experience in hiring and developing hourly staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A reliable personal vehicle with a good driving record and insurance.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization, as well as in data entry for ordering management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ServSafe Manager certification.
  • ServSafe Proctor certification.
