Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to join our team at UAB Health System. As a Patient Account Representative, you will play a critical role in processing patient accounts, ensuring accurate and timely billing, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process patient accounts, including third-party follow-up, payment preparation, and correspondence
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations as needed
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies and patient complaints
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely billing and revenue cycle management
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree may substitute for experience
  • One year of medical third-party billing and collection experience required; three years preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical setting preferred; CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred
