Portfolio Manager

About This Opportunity
The primary objective of this role is to oversee assigned client portfolios, encompassing the establishment of investment objectives, asset allocation, selection of specific securities, investment performance reporting, and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in leadership activities, including policy and strategy committees, to drive business growth and development.
- Act as a resource for other department members, providing expertise and support to ensure seamless operations.
- Meet with assigned clients on a regular basis to provide portfolio and investment reporting, and make investment recommendations as necessary.
- Determine the appropriate investment objective for assigned client investment portfolios, collaborating with clients and administrative officers as required.
- Provide clients with information regarding general market and economic conditions, consistent with the investment and economic market outlook.
- Review existing client portfolios to ensure investment objectives are being met, and portfolios are in compliance with investment objectives and Commerce Bank's security-specific recommendations.
- Implement security-specific recommendations in assigned client portfolios in a timely manner.
- Proactively discuss investment and/or client problems and concerns with leadership to promote timely resolution of outstanding issues.
- Support the investment committees by providing complete and timely information about assigned client portfolios.
- Maintain a constructive, proactive working relationship with private client associates to provide timely client service.
- Contribute to new business development initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of portfolio management principles and practices.
- Understanding of various types of accounts and investment management strategies.
- Advanced presentation skills, along with well-developed negotiation skills.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet Commerce Bank's driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements.
- Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values.
- Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 6+ years of trust, bank, or investment management experience required.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred.
