Job Title: Youth Education Program Intern

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our Youth Education Program. As a Youth Education Program Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to provide education and support services to refugee youth in New York City.

Job Summary:

The Youth Education Program Intern will assist in the implementation of education programs for newly arrived youth, including tutoring, leaders in training, community events, and the Newcomer Youth Summer Academy. The intern will work closely with the Youth Education Supervisor to oversee program operations, including data processing, creating M&E reports, and program strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Youth Education Supervisor in operationalizing Youth Education Programs
  • Assist with recruitment, intake, and enrollment paperwork for students
  • Conduct assessments and take attendance
  • Input data in IRC systems and communicate with students and parents
  • Research resources and support in lesson planning and curriculum development
  • Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Clear IRC background check by deadline in order to work with minors and/or vulnerable populations
  • Current graduate student or recent graduate student in education or related field
  • Demonstrated experience working with refugee or immigrant students and families, excellent rapport with youth and adults of diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required
  • Fluency in a second language preferred
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
