Job Title: Youth Education Program Intern Fall 2024

At the International Rescue Committee, we are committed to providing education and learning opportunities to refugee youth and their communities in New York City. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our Youth Education Department in delivering high-quality programs and services.

Job Summary:

The Youth Education Intern will assist the Youth Education Supervisor in overseeing various programs, including Tutoring, Leaders in Training, Community Events, and Youth ESOL. The intern will provide support in data processing, creating M&E reports, and program strategy. Additionally, the intern will assist in curriculum and logistical support to the Youth ESOL instructor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Youth Education Supervisor in operationalizing Youth Education Programs, including recruitment, intake, and enrollment paperwork for students, conducting assessments, taking attendance, and inputting data in IRC systems.
  • Communicate with students and parents, research resources, and support in lesson planning and curriculum development.
  • Compile data for M&E reports for programs across the department, plan curricula and schedules for NYSA, and research new opportunities for program expansion.
Requirements:
  • Clear IRC background check by deadline to work with minors and/or vulnerable populations.
  • Current graduate student or recent graduate student in education or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with refugee or immigrant students and families, excellent rapport with youth and adults of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
  • Fluency in a second language preferred.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
