Job Title: Youth Education Intern

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate intern to join our team as a Youth Education Intern. In this role, you will work closely with our Youth Education Specialists, School Success Specialists, and other interns to support the educational needs of newly arrived youth.

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with refugee populations and to learn about the refugee experience as it pertains to education and English language development.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating after-school tutoring and academic support programming to refugee youth, focusing on areas such as English language skills, math, and other subjects as needed.
  • Track and document all activities related to youth education and tutoring in the appropriate internal database system.
  • Facilitate one Professional Development session for staff and volunteers.
Qualifications:
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate.
  • Experience or strong interest in working with refugee and immigrant communities.
  • Punctuality, excellent time management skills, and a flexible schedule.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Commitment:

Minimum of 15 hours per week for 16 weeks.

Primary availability during IRC business hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm).

Preference will be given to applicants able to make a multi-term commitment.
