Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine's Primary Care Clinic. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, including vital sign collection, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
  • Implement and document patient and family education as delegated by the RN or physician.
  • Assist with collection of specimens and perform labeling and logging of specimens in compliance with hospital standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the clinical team.

Requirements

  • A completed High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body.
  • A current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
  • Must have phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience working in a community health setting.
  • Completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants that is recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Considerable skill in communicating verbally, in determining priorities, and in organizing work.
  • General working knowledge of PC, Excel, Microsoft Word for Windows, OASIS, and EPIC.
  • Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments.

Working Conditions

  • Job Type/FTE: Full Time (1.0 FTE).
  • Shift: 9:30am-6:00pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Unit/Department: Primary Care.
  • CBA Code: Non-Union.
