Position Summary:

Role Overview:
  • The Clinical Education Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the instructional and operational aspects of clinical and practicum experiences within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. This role necessitates maintaining a high level of professionalism and up-to-date certifications in the field. Participation in departmental and institutional meetings is also a key responsibility.

  • Department: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program
  • Work Schedule: Part-time; available during fall, spring, and summer semesters; approximately 20 hours per week, requiring flexibility for day, evening, and weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Essential Functions:
    • Coordinate clinical education placements for students, ensuring alignment with program needs and managing all necessary documentation.
    • Evaluate clinical sites and maintain compliance with affiliation agreements.
    • Facilitate orientation for personnel supervising students at clinical sites.
    • Collaborate with clinical partners to ensure adherence to EMS learning outcomes.
    • Document and monitor student progress in clinical and field experiences.
    • Develop and maintain course syllabi for assigned classes.
    • Deliver didactic instruction for Paramedic coursework and assist with EMT classes as needed.
    • Utilize both in-person and online educational formats for instruction.
    • Support the EMS program director in scheduling and skills lab coordination.
    • Engage with faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance program effectiveness.
    • Implement strategies for student retention and success in EMS programs.
    • Ensure compliance with state and national EMS regulations and accreditation standards.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the program director.
  • Non-Essential Functions:
    • Assist in recruiting students for EMS programs.
    • Advise prospective students on program requirements.
    • Provide academic support for community partners.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Local and regional travel to clinical partner facilities and educational experiences.
    • Drive EMS Program ambulance during training sessions.
Qualifications:

Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge: Current theoretical and practical knowledge in EMT and Paramedic practices, along with ethical standards in EMS.
  • Skills: Proficiency in basic computer applications and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Abilities: Capacity to manage multiple tasks in various educational settings and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree in EMS from an accredited institution; must be a licensed EMS instructor and a paramedic.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in emergency medical services as a paramedic.
  • Active state license and national registration as a paramedic.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in EMS from an accredited institution; must be a licensed EMS instructor and a paramedic.
  • Three years of experience in emergency medical services as a paramedic.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, sit, and move for extended periods.
  • Strong cognitive skills for planning, organizing, and evaluating educational activities.
Work Environment:
  • Work will occur in various settings including classrooms, laboratories, and clinical environments.
