MarathonTS is looking for a
Senior Systems Architect Technical Specialist to provide support for our Federal clientele.

The ideal candidate should possess a robust technical foundation in system engineering principles, methodologies, and techniques, alongside an extensive knowledge base regarding IT installations related to networking, computing, and security systems. Proven experience in delivering comprehensive support for RHEL systems, including customer engagement, is essential. Familiarity with LDAP and the integration of Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting for network and RHEL users and groups, as well as supporting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) software, is required.

We seek an individual with profound expertise in VMware ESXi hypervisor and vCenter management, intermediate proficiency in Linux operating systems, and a self-motivated attitude towards learning and supporting mission-oriented DoD clients. The ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks within designated areas is crucial.

Possession of a current CompTia Security+ certification or the capability to obtain it shortly after hiring is mandatory, as this is a DoD requirement for privileged access to government networks.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the larger team framework, under the guidance of the system architect, focusing on system engineering and administration tasks while also assisting with networking responsibilities.

Monitor, support, and troubleshoot hardware and software related to the infrastructure technologies currently deployed in our labs and at client locations.

The core requirement involves managing a Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting multiple sites with high-performance CISCO routers, alongside an Out-of-Band (OOB) network management system that is isolated from other networks.

Work independently or collaboratively in small teams, engaging with the broader team to support security, documentation, project management, and collaborating with government personnel.

Ensure ongoing compliance with patching and accreditation requirements for supported systems, along with maintaining documentation related to system monitoring.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee task execution, ensuring completion aligns with the expectations of project management and government clients.
  • Engage in assigned projects, leading when necessary, and working independently when appropriate.
  • Execute advanced technical tasks in designated functional areas.
  • Schedule and conduct system and network maintenance, perform installations, configurations, and repairs, and support certification and accreditation activities.
  • Collaborate with on-site personnel for support of out-of-band management systems based on RHEL applications.
  • Maintain RHEL operating systems, including managing repositories for security patches and resolving configuration-related issues.
  • Contribute to the design of overall systems and management components, maintaining system diagrams and supporting accreditation activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for assigned projects, including diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Support the process for routine monitoring of systems, patching, compliance, and documentation updates.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients at all levels, from technical staff to senior leadership.
  • Ensure quality assurance of project deliverables, adhering to defined processes and requirements.
  • Maintain relevant credentials for system access and training.
  • Stay current with relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

SECONDARY (ASSISTIVE) DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with on-site teams for support of LAN-based applications and network devices.
  • Provide input for network architecture design and maintain network diagrams.
  • Assist in maintaining systems for deploying network configuration scripts and backups.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; 14+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, computer science, or information systems required; a Master's degree may reduce experience requirements.
  • Solid technical knowledge of system engineering and support principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT installations for networking, computing, and security systems.
  • Proven experience in providing support for RHEL systems.
  • Familiarity with LDAP and integration of authentication and authorization systems.
  • Deep knowledge of VMware ESXi and vCenter management.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and technical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Self-driven with a commitment to supporting mission-driven clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Current CompTia Security+ certification or ability to obtain it rapidly.
  • Ability to meet DoD requirements for access and training.
  • Active TS/SCI DoD clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to obtain additional security clearances if requested.
  • Experience in the intelligence community is advantageous.
  • Military background is a plus.
  • Familiarity with TACLANEs is beneficial.
