The Systems Engineering Division (SED) brings exceptional expertise in systems engineering to various government entities and numerous public and private organizations, universities, nonprofits, consortia, and commercial enterprises engaged in the advanced application of space technology. From developing systems architecture to conducting system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris management, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule evaluation, and economic market analysis, SED leverages a vast array of engineering and business disciplines to address a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

The System-of-Systems Engineering (SOSE) Office offers extensive architectural and portfolio analysis capabilities, integrating expertise and other system analysis and design proficiencies from across the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) to assist our clients with their most pressing acquisition, portfolio, enterprise, and cross-system architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering technical and analytical support to government clients in areas such as portfolio decision support, risk analysis, and enterprise portfolio planning.
  • Exhibiting strong communication skills to document and identify potential challenges, gaps, and recommendations for resolving identified issues, while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Facilitating the deployment and implementation of suitable Aerospace- and industry-developed digital engineering tools and frameworks with internal and government clients.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients to gain insights into their portfolio challenges and translating them into analytical tasks supported by Aerospace's capabilities.
  • Possessing a foundational understanding of Systems of Systems Engineering (SoSE) and applying key concepts in complex environments.
  • Identifying new capabilities and enhancements to existing digital engineering tools to better meet emerging needs in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), enterprise integration, and systems of systems engineering.
  • Conducting independent long-range technical and programmatic studies, culminating in comprehensive report findings and recommendations.

Qualifications for Success:

Systems of Systems Engineer - Senior Member of Technical Staff

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, digital engineering, or nuclear weapons systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of presenting methods and results effectively in various formats.
  • Outstanding time-management abilities, adept at managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and acquire knowledge through self-study and proactive engagement with mentors and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to travel domestically as required.
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance is necessary, which is issued by the US government; U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in science, mathematics, or engineering.
  • 8 or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in portfolio-level analysis and architecting activities.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in cost analysis, schedule analysis, risk analysis, and portfolio-level trade studies.
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance is required.

Desirable Attributes:

It would be advantageous to possess:

  • An advanced degree in engineering, science, or mathematics from an accredited institution.
  • Prior experience with Enterprise Integration, Portfolio Analysis, and/or Digital Engineering tools and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of systems-of-systems (SoS) engineering and enterprise architecting, along with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) disciplines.
  • Extensive familiarity with the technical capabilities and customer base of ETG, including USSF, DOD, NASA, NOAA, ODNI, NGA, and NRO.
