MDS Coordinator

The MDS/RAI Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, collaborating with the facility's Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). This position is guided by federal regulations and is supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN). The coordinator is responsible for facilitating the completion of both the Omnibus Reconciliation Act (OBRA) and Prospective Payment System (PPS) assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive guidance from the Nursing Home Administrator regarding overall Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) objectives.
  • Demonstrate expertise in data collection and analysis methodologies to support and lead performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identify areas for enhancement through data analysis, operational observations, and consultations with leadership and staff.
  • Collaborate with the quality committee and senior management to prioritize and develop QAPI strategies.
  • Lead performance improvement projects while providing education and coaching to empower others in leading these initiatives.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary QAPI activities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Education: LPN licensure in the State of Kentucky is required.

Experience: A minimum of three years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, with at least one year of experience in MDA completion and supervisory roles.

Skills: Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations governing nursing practices in long-term care settings is essential. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary, along with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with patients, residents, and staff.

Licensure/Certification: The RAI Coordinator must hold a current, unencumbered active nursing license in Kentucky.
