The MDS/RAI Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process in collaboration with the facility's Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). This position is crucial for ensuring compliance with federal regulations and facilitating the completion of necessary assessments, including the Omnibus Reconciliation Act (OBRA) and Prospective Payment System (PPS) evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to the Nursing Home Administrator regarding overall Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) objectives.
  • Utilize expertise in data collection and analysis to support and lead performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identify areas for enhancement through thorough data analysis, operational observations, and consultations with leadership and staff.
  • Collaborate with the quality committee and senior management to prioritize and develop QAPI strategies.
  • Lead performance improvement projects while offering education and coaching to empower others in leading these initiatives.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary QAPI activities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Education: Must possess education leading to LPN licensure in the State of Kentucky.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, including at least one year of experience with MDA completion and one year in a supervisory role.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Comprehensive understanding of current federal and state regulations applicable to nursing practice in long-term care settings. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Proficient in presenting information to various audiences, analyzing data, and interpreting complex documents. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Licensure/Certification: The RAI Coordinator must hold a current, unencumbered active nursing license in the state of Kentucky.
