Compensation: $16.75 to $18.75 per hour

We are currently seeking a full-time Employment Services Program Specialist. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist adults in transitioning to competitive employment, focusing on community-based, paid job opportunities. This involves creating and securing qualitative employment options for individuals with disabilities while nurturing employer relationships for future placements. Success in this role will be achieved by building a robust network within the local business community and relevant agencies.

Key Responsibilities

OPWDD Discovery First/Employee Training Program (ETP)

  • Conduct assessments and intake for individuals entering the OPWDD Discovery First/ETP program.
  • Complete all tasks related to the Discovery First Program, including assessments, interviews with support networks, observations, and file reviews.
  • Ensure timely completion of all necessary documentation, including timesheets, discovery reports, and Therap documentation.
  • Maintain communication with the OPWDD Discovery First/ETP supervisor and participate in quarterly meetings.
  • Develop and sustain a positive network of community-based employers.
  • Ensure ongoing relationships with employers who have previously hired individuals through Integrated Employment Services.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for individuals to SEMP Extended Services in collaboration with the SEMP Management team.
  • Work closely with Transition Coordinators and School to Work staff to support students transitioning from the ETP program.
  • Promote participant satisfaction through cooperative efforts with supervisors and coaching staff.
  • Effectively communicate individual support needs to all relevant parties.

ACCESS-VR

  • Ensure all employment outcomes align with the definition of competitive, integrated employment as per ACCES-VR policy.
  • Review referral materials and schedule intake appointments promptly.
  • Establish relationships with assigned program candidates within one week of referral assignment.
  • Engage with the appropriate ACCES-VR Counselor within one day of referral assignment.
  • Attend relevant meetings to gain insights that will lead to successful outcomes for individuals.
  • Request and follow up on additional information to complete referrals.
  • Conduct interviews with applicants and prepare intake summaries.
  • If an applicant is not work-ready, liaise with ACCES-VR.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with ACCES-VRC regarding referred cases.
  • Coordinate with the SEMP Management team to ensure seamless transitions to SEMP Extended Services.

General Duties

  • Provide transportation for participants as needed for intake and job interviews.
  • Ensure all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain current certifications and training, seeking additional support as necessary.
  • Adhere to the agency's Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, performing responsibilities with integrity and respect.
  • Follow all agency policies and procedures, prioritizing personal and others' safety.
  • Perform other job-related activities as assigned by supervisors.
  • Incorporate CORE concepts of CQL's person-centered excellence, respecting individuals' concerns and rights.

To perform the essential functions of this role, an individual must be able to:

  1. Lift up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, pivot, and grasp with both hands.
  2. Assist individuals in mobility, which may include pushing wheelchairs.
  3. Stand and walk for extended periods.
  4. Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to ensure compliance with regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field

• One year of sales and marketing experience (preferred)

• At least two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a vocational setting

• A valid NYS driver's license, free of moving violations, as deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
