Overview:

At Family Services, Inc., we are dedicated to ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to flourish. The Bilingual Social Worker plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed assistance to families and children enrolled in the Dutchess County Family Education Program (DC FEP). This role involves close collaboration with the Case Manager to offer in-home parenting education, counseling, assessments, and on-call support aimed at achieving safety goals and minimizing the risk of out-of-home placements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related human services discipline, accompanied by two (2) years of relevant experience in social services.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Case Management and/or Family Services or Social Services is essential. Internship experience is not considered equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and effectively communicating with Spanish-speaking families, including document translation as necessary.
  • Experience in home-based programming is preferred.
  • Possession of a CASAC credential and/or advanced coursework in social work or its equivalent is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and counseling abilities.
  • Familiarity with community and public agencies.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Commitment to cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed practices.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel frequently and efficiently to client residences and community meetings.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours as required (with prior planning) to meet the needs of families on the caseload and facilitate support groups as necessary.
  • Completion of mandatory on-the-job training, including Motivational Interviewing, Mandated Reporter, CORE Foundations, and SafeCare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Mandated Preventive Services to families referred by the Dutchess County Department of Child and Family Services to mitigate the risk of future child abuse and neglect while ensuring child safety.
  • Manage a caseload of 12 to 13 families, providing in-home services ranging from monthly visits to bi-weekly support.
  • Assist families in adhering to their Court Orders and meeting the expectations set by the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services.
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop and evaluate Family Assessment Service Plan goals.
  • Obtain and maintain training and certification in Family Check-Up and SafeCare (training provided) to effectively implement evidence-based parenting skills training.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques (training provided).
  • Facilitate support groups addressing parenting, trauma, or other identified needs as required.
  • Provide 24/7 support to families involved with the Family Education Program as part of the on-call rotation (stipend provided).
  • Assess child safety and risk, communicating effectively with supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other departments and community partners to deliver a comprehensive range of services to families and children.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings and individual supervision.
  • Deliver services to families with cultural humility to help reduce disparities in the child welfare system.
