Job Summary

Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth is seeking a skilled and compassionate Prevention Family Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in preserving the family unit by providing supportive casework counseling in the home and empowering parents with tools and resources to ensure children's safety, well-being, and permanency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of family strengths and needs, identifying problem areas and developing effective treatment modalities and resources to promote growth and change.
  • Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of comprehensive treatment and discharge plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for youth and families.
  • Provide Effective Case Management: Deliver high-quality case management services, including scheduling counseling sessions, ensuring children receive required medical and dental examinations, and tracking and monitoring services provided.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Conduct regular casework contacts with families, engaging youth and family members in treatment goals and ensuring children are maintained in safe and secure environments.
  • Collaborate with Community Resources: Develop and maintain relationships with community schools and resource agencies to ensure the best possible educational and support experiences for youth.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field, with a minimum of 1 year of experience working with at-risk youth and families and case management.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, including day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as being subject to call hours.
  • Transportation and Travel: Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle, with the ability to coordinate and plan travel for visits and appointments in an efficient manner.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse populations, with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Communication and Crisis Intervention Skills: Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening skills, as well as the ability to handle crisis intervention in a solution-focused manner.
Benefits
  • Competitive Salary: Based on background, education, and experience, with a salary range of $25.24 per hour ($52,500 annually) to $26.20 per hour ($54,500 annually).
