Job Overview

Position Summary:

Oversee and direct essential engineering projects related to electrical systems. Innovate solutions for intricate challenges while working in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the firm's reputation for design excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical System Engineering: Spearhead the design, assessment, and compliance of electrical systems, focusing on medium and low voltage power distribution, large-scale uninterruptible power supplies, parallel backup power generation, fuel cells, battery systems, harmonic mitigation, grounding, lightning protection, and short circuit/arc-flash analysis.
  • Advanced Electrical Designs: Utilize your deep knowledge of complex electrical system designs, particularly in enterprise and hyperscale colocation data centers.
  • Conceptual Development: Formulate and evaluate system concepts to achieve optimal design solutions that meet project specifications.
  • Detailed Engineering: Produce accurate electrical design documentation and specifications, including equipment selection and layout throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Systems Evaluation: Conduct thorough analyses of electrical systems, generating reports, studies, and cost estimates while providing technical support to the project team.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection engineers, structural engineers, architects, and other design team members to ensure cohesive integration of building designs.
  • Project Leadership: Guide and coordinate a team of engineers, designers, BIM/Revit technicians, and support personnel to guarantee effective project delivery.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients to discuss design strategies, modifications, constructability issues, value engineering, and project progress.
  • Documentation Management: Supervise the distribution of approved drawings and specifications, ensuring effective coordination with other design team members.
  • Team Collaboration: Promote teamwork with construction project managers, commissioning agents, fabrication teams, and installation crews, serving as a vital team member.
  • Project Oversight: Participate in design team meetings, manage design manpower budgets, and provide updates reflecting scope changes. Prepare proposals and service requests as needed.

General Duties:

  • Geographic Engagement: Work on projects across North America and Latin America, necessitating travel to client sites and conferences.
  • Team Leadership: Direct the internal electrical critical systems group, ensuring effective project execution, technical oversight, and client/account management.
  • Professional Representation: Represent the firm professionally in interactions with clients, architects, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Mentorship: Contribute to the firm's human resource initiatives by providing training and mentorship to junior electrical team members.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with marketing, leadership, and business development to support the firm's growth and success.
  • Adaptability: Embrace flexible responsibilities while consistently setting and achieving project goals and deadlines.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Additional Tasks: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned to support the overall success of the firm.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: At least 15 years of experience as an engineer specializing in electrical systems design for large-scale critical systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Revit by Autodesk and SKM Tools is required. Familiarity with Deltek Vision or Project Resource Management software is preferred.
  • Licensure: PE licensure is mandatory.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and analytical abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Business Development: Effective skills in business development.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Client Orientation: Proven ability to consistently set goals, meet deadlines, and exceed client expectations.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this full-time position is $140,000-$165,000 annually. Actual base pay may vary based on the successful candidate's experience and education, among other factors.
