About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to join our team at Metro Consulting Associates, LLC. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for leading the technical aspects of various construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage client and contractor relationships, serving as a liaison between office and field staff.
  • Assist with ensuring proper staffing levels on construction projects.
  • Coordinate with staff regarding various inspection, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee materials testing and pavement evaluation programs.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for staff in carrying out construction supervision, including contract administration, quality control, construction monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Assist with holding field staff accountable for maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
  • Correspond regularly with clients, municipality officials, and contractors on all project-related matters.
  • Lead communication with contractors and subcontractors on all engineering projects.
  • Coordinate regularly with other departments, including administrative, marketing, business development, GIS, land development, and surveying services.
  • Act as a technical resource for junior staff.
  • Recommend solutions for construction-related matters on various projects.
  • Correspond with private and public agencies.
  • Prepare quantities for construction estimates.
  • Prepare bid documents for private, public, and other governmental agency projects.
  • Prepare project specifications and standard details.
  • Perform field inspections of existing water, sewer, road, and other infrastructure as necessary.
  • Plot, organize, and assemble project-related documents, permit applications, and cut sheets.
  • Exercise judgment with adaptations of engineering alternatives while adhering to company standards and methodologies.
  • Perform QA/QC review on construction drawings, technical reports, and other project-related documents.
  • Inspect completed work and sign-off on quality of workmanship.
  • Interpret construction plans, standards, and specifications.
  • Coordinate work between agencies, contractors, and other city departments.
  • Develop construction observation guides and maintenance of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans.
  • Assist in reviewing project drawings and specifications to gain a full understanding of project scope, client goals, and expectations.
  • Identify construction approaches and risks to ensure efficiency and mitigate exposure.
  • Solicit and coordinate subcontractor and supplier bids for labor, material, and equipment.
  • Gather information, develop solutions, and adjust to necessary changes in work sequences.
  • Review contractor and supplier invoices against actual performance.
  • Evaluate the legitimacy of contractor and supplier change requests in terms of contractual requirements and validity of cost estimates.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to involved staff and contractors.
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules, progress, durations, compliance with financial, operational, and/or scheduling requirements, and sequencing logic.
  • Administer, arrange, optimize, and lead daily and weekly progress meetings, activities with owner/contractor, construction staff, site engineer, inspection staff, external contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare request for proposals for public tender of services and statement of work documents.
  • Contribute to contracts, change orders, material and services purchase orders for approval by Owner.
  • Assess and where appropriate make recommendations on contractor requests for extension of time, claims for additional payment, and contractual disputes.
  • Review quotes, material requests, procured items, deliveries, and on-site production to validate accurate fulfillment and quality control.
  • Certify invoices submitted by suppliers and contractors and recommend for payment by owners.
  • Determine and recommend labor force, materials, and equipment requirements.
  • Maintain regular estimates of the cost-to-completion and time-to-completion for each task.
  • Complete computer-based weekly and/or daily reports, project log, and documentation files.
  • Identify risk and opportunity in all aspects of construction management and implement mitigation measures where risks are appreciable.
  • Coordinate with GIS team to ensure proper collection and GIS deliverables of field data.
  • Conduct ongoing meetings with field staff to remain informed of project work and facilitate resolution of presented or developing issues.
  • Assign weekly tasks to direct reports and conduct performance evaluations on a quarterly basis.
