Role Overview
The Lead Procurement Specialist is tasked with overseeing all strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier management operations to facilitate the ongoing expansion and establishment of Rivian facilities nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the contractual engagements with suppliers, including negotiating NDAs, General Terms & Conditions, and Statements of Work.
• Formulate sourcing strategies by evaluating the supply chain, market dynamics, and emerging technologies.
• Conduct market research to identify potential sources based on project specifications and Rivian's objectives concerning sustainability, equity, and diversity.
• Prepare market assessments and document the findings of market research.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and develop commodity strategies and roadmaps for Rivian stakeholders.
• Enhance opportunities to deliver value to the organization by leveraging and expanding national accounts, consolidating expenditures, and identifying new opportunities.
• Perform in-depth analysis of supplier quotations based on detailed cost breakdowns.
• Drive and implement ongoing cost improvement initiatives through effective negotiations to meet operational cost targets.
• Cultivate strong supplier relationships and monitor performance through the establishment of key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with the Rivian Finance team to manage departmental budgets and ensure contract compliance.
• Analyze current expenditure data in construction and facilities-related commodities to identify cost-saving opportunities and supplier consolidation.
• Work closely with stakeholders to fulfill their technical requirements, adhere to established milestones, and monitor sourcing progress.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction-related purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing.
• At least 3 years of experience purchasing construction-related materials and services.
• 3+ years of experience with procurement software, preferably Coupa.
• Proficient in MS Office for over 5 years.
• Familiarity with the construction labor market and trends in materials/commodities; demonstrated experience with general contractors and subcontractors.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High integrity and ethical standards.
• Analytical skills to ensure all internal and external requests are met.
• Attention to detail to guarantee that sourcing criteria align with stakeholder requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
