Physical Requirements
The essential functions for this role include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull weights on a daily basis, frequently handling 25-50 pounds, as well as standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
The working conditions may involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and risks associated with intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift Requirements
Must be available to work two 12-hour day shifts each weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 7:30 PM.
This position entails working 24 hours weekly while receiving full-time pay and benefits as part of the Weekend Premium Plan (WEPP).
Job Summary
Registered Nurses in the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit are responsible for delivering care to patients ranging from adults to geriatrics. Patient conditions may include leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other hematologic malignancies.
The primary responsibilities include:
1. Providing comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care.
2. Assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a detailed nursing care plan.
3. Delivering direct patient care and ensuring patient satisfaction.
4. Training and delegating tasks to Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
5. Adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
This role fosters collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and improve patient outcomes, utilizing the nursing process alongside a comprehensive patient-centered care plan.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of Maslow's Basic Human Needs and Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, along with Swanson's Caring model.
- Excellent direct patient care and critical thinking abilities.
- Basic computer navigation skills and familiarity with the internet.
- Professional communication skills with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation capabilities.
The candidate should be highly motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and their families, thriving in a team-oriented environment with open and honest communication.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical skills and a proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with at least 1 year of RN experience preferred.
