ROLE SUMMARY: The Bilingual Health Insurance Specialist is tasked with upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics while representing Access to Health Network (AHN) to clients and partners. The ideal candidate is a driven, organized individual who excels under pressure and can manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role involves assisting clients in enrolling in insurance products, processing premiums, and handling referrals for the Nevada Medication Assistance Program (NMAP) from partner organizations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Compliance with all HIPAA regulations is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is required, with the ability to operate the AHN company vehicle as necessary.
  • Must obtain an Exchange Enrollment Facilitator License (EEF) within 90 days, at the agency's expense.
  • Develop and maintain a foundational understanding of health insurance systems and terminology.
  • Acquire a basic knowledge of AHN's administrative duties, services, and systems.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and collaboration with direct reports is expected.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain knowledge of non-AHN healthcare programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Nevada Check-Up, Prescription Drug Programs, and Women's Health Connection.
  • Exhibit compassion and professionalism while serving clients.
  • Ensure all clients and prospective clients are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Contribute to the objectives set by the Nevada Department of Health and Clark County Nevada.
  • Conduct eligibility screenings for potential Ryan White services.
  • Process referrals in accordance with AHN policies.
  • Gain familiarity with the Nevada/Federal Health Exchange, HIP, and Medicaid eligibility criteria and enrollment processes.
  • Assist eligible consumers in enrolling in the Premium Assistance Program.
  • Manage premium payments for state-approved insurance plans.
  • Ensure Ryan White Part B files are current and complete.
  • Develop expertise in AHN services available to members.
  • Submit all programmatic reports punctually and accurately.
  • Process NMAP referrals to determine eligibility.
  • Collect information from clients to ascertain the payer of last resort.
  • Foster effective working relationships with AHN providers, members, partners, and funders.
  • Accurately record client information in CareWare and Salesforce.
  • Regularly update database and spreadsheet entries with new information.
  • Demonstrate multitasking abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Develop a basic understanding of Salesforce and CareWare.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of applications for insurance qualification.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Adapt to changing work environments and responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma; Associate's Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of one year in health insurance, sales, or related experience preferred.
  • At least three years of computer experience, including proficiency in Microsoft operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational communication planning and execution.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Typically moderate noise levels in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Ability to sit at a computer for 6 - 8 hours daily.
  • Ability to stand for 3 - 6 hours daily.
  • Capability to perform repetitive hand/wrist movements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds consistently.
