Job Summary

As an Event Coordinator with the City of Amarillo, Texas, you will be responsible for directing the use of the Civic Center Complex. This role involves supervising a small permanent staff and a large number of part-time and contract employees, as well as coordinating and executing events. You will provide exceptional customer service to lessees, patrons, and guests, and be accountable for large sums of money.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the use of the Civic Center Complex, including supervising permanent, part-time, and contract staff.
  • Plan and coordinate events, including meetings with potential clients, coordinating equipment and services, and overseeing client contact.
  • Set up and strike AV equipment for events without technical labor, and label temporary seating for ticketed events.
  • Approve purchases up to $1,000 without approval from a supervisor.
  • Research administrative projects as assigned, and create and maintain all signage for events.
  • Monitor scheduled events to observe activities and enforce Civic Center Complex policies and regulations.
  • Oversee the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and set-up of the Civic Center Complex.
  • Perform in-house safety inspections to ensure compliance with facility policies, city codes, and state and federal laws.
  • Compute facility charges, create event invoices, and collect or arrange for payment of fees.
  • Provide quality customer service to lessees, patrons, and guests.
Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years in a supervisory position. Two years of experience in auditorium and theatrical operations is preferred. Completion of Trained Crowd Manager class is required upon hire. Certified in First Aid and CPR/AED is required upon hire. Certified Meeting Professional or other event planning related certification is preferred. Must be able to obtain and hold a Valid Texas Driver's License.
