The primary objective of this role is to act as a financial advisor and budget analyst, overseeing daily operations related to the formulation, execution, and analysis of the organization's financial resources and budgetary needs.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the main point of contact for everyday financial and budgetary concerns.
- Engage in budget formulation tasks, which include reviewing and preparing budget estimates and financial plans.
- Administer budget execution and management by monitoring obligations and actual fund expenditures.
- Provide expert advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting matters, conducting analyses, reviews, and special studies related to financial information.
- Utilize automated budgeting systems and computer-generated products to complete funding assignments effectively.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the specialized experience requirements outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions.
Specialized ExperienceApplicants should possess at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, demonstrating knowledge of standard budgetary methods, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to assigned budget accounts.
OR EducationApplicants must have completed a Master's degree or equivalent graduate education, or two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a relevant field.
OR Combination of Experience and EducationA combination of education and experience may be utilized to meet the qualifications, provided the total meets or exceeds 100% of the requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesYour qualifications will be assessed based on your knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
- Familiarity with budgetary methods and practices to formulate and execute budgets effectively.
- Proficiency in automated data processing software used for budget tasks.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and present factual information from various financial reports.
- Competence in preparing documentation related to fund obligations and expenditures.
- Capability to deliver oral presentations on budget matters and conduct training sessions for diverse audiences.
Credit will be given for relevant unpaid or part-time work experience, including volunteer roles that demonstrate applicable skills and competencies.
For candidates using education to qualify, transcripts must be submitted with the application.
