Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to execute a comprehensive range of administrative and procedural tasks that support the separation and retirement initiatives within the organization. This includes providing essential office automation assistance utilizing various software applications to generate a diverse array of documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage all documentation required for processing personnel for separation, discharge, retirement, and release from active duty.
  • Conduct thorough records reviews with personnel to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Act as the main resource for information regarding separation and retirement policies, procedures, and requirements for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Update and process actions through the Personnel Data System efficiently.
  • Utilize multiple office automation tools to create a variety of documents related to military separation and retirement programs.
Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the specialized experience criteria as outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, specifically within the Clerical and Administrative Support and Human Resources Assistance Series 0203.

Specialized Experience

Applicants should possess at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level or equivalent, demonstrating knowledge and skills in applying personnel regulations and resolving complex procedural issues.

OR Education

Completion of four years of education beyond high school from an accredited institution in business, secretarial, or technical fields is required.

OR Combination of Experience and Education

A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered, provided the total meets the required qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Your qualifications will be assessed based on your expertise in the following areas:

  1. Understanding of military personnel regulations and procedures related to separations and retirements.
  2. Familiarity with military organizational structures and protocols.
  3. Proficiency in general office administrative and clerical practices.
  4. Experience with military personnel automated systems and various office software applications.
  5. Typing proficiency is required.
  6. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to maintain professional relationships.
