Accounting Assistant

NW Employer Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the financial operations of our client, O'Neill Construction Group, in Portland, Oregon.
This entry-level role will provide hands-on experience in basic accounting functions, including cost tracking, job costing, invoicing, and accounts receivable support. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining detailed records, processing invoices, and assisting with financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Tracking: Maintain accurate records of project costs and track actual versus budgeted costs.
- Job Costing: Assist with tracking project profitability by managing job costs and preparing job cost reports.
- Invoicing: Process and enter invoices for accounts payable and subcontractors.
- Accounts Receivable Support: Help with managing customer accounts and client payments.
- Clerical Support: Perform general office duties, including filing and collecting timecards.
- Cross-Training: Be cross-trained in core accounting functions and serve as a backup for payroll as needed.
- Vendor Management: Obtain and maintain W-9 forms from vendors.
Requirements:
- Experience: At least 1 year of data entry and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Excel).
- Attention to Detail: You're organized, able to handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with ease.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Self-Starter: You're proactive, able to work independently, and excited to grow within the company.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly Wage: $20-25/hour (based on experience)
- Benefits: Health insurance, 401k/profit sharing, paid holidays, and paid time off per Employee Handbook.
Schedule:
- Full-Time: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- In-Person: This is not a telecommuting position.
