Internal Medicine Physician

This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers reimbursement for student loan payments.
Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria in accordance with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within the designated timeframe.
Program approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility periods (ranging from one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office following a thorough review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be established, with subsequent cut-off dates occurring bi-weekly.
Eligible applications received after the cut-off date will be accepted on an ongoing basis, and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies arise.

Compensation:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases.

Retirement Benefits:

Licensure:
Must possess a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine from any U.S. State or territory.
Continuing Medical Education:
Potential reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification).

Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
Contractual Obligations:
No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
Role Expectations:
The physician will deliver clinical services at the VA facility and provide leadership within the Patient-Aligned Care Team (PACT). Responsibilities include timely documentation in the electronic health record, participation in quality assurance projects, and engagement in medical staff activities.
The Primary Care Physician (PCP) will function as a collaborative team provider, delivering comprehensive, coordinated care to an assigned panel of Veterans, while also addressing needs of patients outside the assigned panel when necessary.
Medical care will adhere to current clinical practice guidelines, emphasizing preventive measures through evidence-based decision-making tools.
In addition to providing high-quality medical care, PACT Physicians will demonstrate excellence in customer service through compassionate interactions with Veterans, their families, and staff.
Major Duties Include:
- Delivering direct patient care, including history and physical examinations, medication management, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment planning.
- Leading the PACT approach to healthcare delivery, emphasizing teamwork.
- Ensuring compliance with patient care protocols.
- Utilizing telehealth technologies for home visits.
- Engaging in performance improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency and patient care delivery.
- Providing health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional qualifications specified in the job announcement.
Applicants pending completion of training or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled.
Current VA physicians who met the previous qualification standards at the time of their initial appointment are considered to have met the basic requirements for this occupation.
Basic Requirements:- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
- Medical Degree: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
- Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity. The role may involve long periods of walking, standing, sitting, and transferring patients. Exposure to infectious patients and contaminated materials may occur, necessitating the use of protective clothing in certain situations.
