Senior Logistics Operations Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet all safety, service, and cost objectives within the logistics environment. Foster a culture of safety that guarantees every US Foods associate remains injury-free at all times. Advocate for safety protocols, processes, and training to uphold a safety-first mentality throughout the logistics operations.
• Guide and mentor Logistics Managers through personalized coaching, training on policies and procedures, assisting in resolving issues as necessary, and exemplifying leadership qualities.
• Supervise and nurture all logistics personnel by reviewing performance with Logistics Managers and formulating strategies to bridge performance gaps. Promote associate engagement and retention, cultivating a workplace that reflects US Foods values.
• Establish a unified organization by maintaining open communication channels and directing the workforce to ensure optimal workflow.
• Assemble high-performing teams by assessing staffing needs and overseeing the recruitment and hiring of logistics staff. Evaluate performance, coach to meet productivity and safety goals, and implement disciplinary measures when necessary.
• Design production flow methodologies and pinpoint opportunities for process enhancement and cost-saving initiatives. Develop and uphold operational protocols for tasks such as verifying incoming shipments, managing product handling and disposition, ensuring warehouse inventory accuracy, and organizing shipment loading.
• Identify and eliminate waste, enhancing processes to accomplish tasks more safely and efficiently.
• Approve daily load operation plans in collaboration with Logistics Managers, ensuring timely completion of truck loads. Verify that load plans adhere to weight restrictions and consistently accommodate special customer requests.
• Analyze operational metrics, including inventory discrepancies, production targets, and safety reports. Detect issues, ascertain root causes, and propose modifications to the VP of Operations to achieve a zero-error standard for accuracy and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure the integrity of products and compliance with food safety standards.
• Oversee the upkeep of the warehouse's physical condition and its equipment in alignment with OSHA regulations.
• In unionized settings, collaborate with HR and the VP of Operations to interpret collective bargaining agreements, administer appropriate disciplinary actions, resolve routine grievances, and participate in arbitration as necessary.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Direct: Logistics Managers, union and/or non-union clerical staff (Operations Clerks, Warehouse Clerks, Will Call Clerks, Slotting Clerks, Truck Builders, etc.)
• Indirect: Union and/or non-union on-floor logistics associates (Loaders, Selectors, Receivers, Forklift Operators, etc.) RELATIONSHIPS
• Internal: Logistics leaders and colleagues; Transportation leaders; Internal stakeholders across departments (e.g., Sales)
• External: Suppliers WORK ENVIRONMENT
• The role is performed in standard warehouse settings as well as in cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may drop to -5 degrees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Related Experience/Requirements:
• A minimum of five years of experience in logistics supervision is required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Comprehensive understanding of logistics operations, methodologies, and protocols.
• Strong leadership, communication, and personnel development capabilities.
• Ability to communicate openly and effectively with all associates and departments within the organization.
• Familiarity with inventory management, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory standards.
• Capability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
• Experience with logistics management systems (LMS) and inventory control systems is advantageous.
Travel:
• 10% travel may be required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training sessions.
Education/Training:
• High school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
• HACCP certification is a plus.

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation is based on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $90,000 and $149,900. This role is also eligible for incentive pay.
