Job Overview

Richmond Residential Services is dedicated to providing exceptional support to individuals with intellectual disabilities. We offer a competitive shift differential of $1.50 per hour for hours worked from 4 PM to 7 AM.

Sign-on Bonus: $1000

POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves assisting professional case management and supervisory staff in delivering personalized services within a community residential setting for adults with varying degrees of intellectual disabilities. Unlike higher-level positions, this role focuses on a broad spectrum of client support activities without direct case management responsibilities. Supervision is provided by the Residential Supervisor, who assigns tasks and reviews performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Support:

  1. Support clients in executing scheduled independent living activities, serving as a role model while providing guidance on shopping, money management, meal planning, personal care, fitness, and leisure activities. Complete training and maintain goals during each shift.
  2. Assist in establishing goals and objectives for the training and behavior modification of clients, utilizing positive and non-aversive strategies, including techniques from MANDT training.
  3. Ensure timely transportation for clients to various appointments and activities.
  4. Administer medication according to agency policies, conducting daily audits as required.
  5. Prioritize the safety of clients, taking all necessary precautions to protect them from harm, and orient them on security and emergency procedures.
  6. Maintain communication with client families and coordinate community resources to meet individual needs.
  7. Encourage active participation in leisure activities chosen by clients.
  8. Interact with clients respectfully, ensuring they are never subjected to any form of abuse or neglect.
  9. Report any violations of client rights to the supervisor immediately.
  10. Provide clients with genuine choices regarding their daily activities.

Administrative Duties:

  1. Ensure compliance with state and federal licensing requirements and fulfill all related responsibilities.
  2. Document daily interactions and support provided to clients accurately and promptly, adhering to Medicaid Waiver and agency standards.
  3. Collaborate positively with team members.
  4. Conduct grocery shopping within budgetary constraints.

Training and Development:

  1. Participate in agency training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
  2. Attend monthly staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma with at least one year of experience in intellectual disabilities or community residential services preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks and other pre-employment screenings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, assist clients with mobility, and perform tasks that may involve bending, kneeling, and moving between locations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is primarily based in a residential setting, with some outdoor activities required for transportation to various engagements.
