Construction Project Coordinator

Position Overview
The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting field operations and primarily collaborates with the Project Manager to facilitate project administration across various small to medium-sized projects. Key responsibilities include overseeing the job transition process and assisting in the management of costs, schedules, constructability, technical assessments, quality assurance, safety protocols, work planning, procurement, contract oversight, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and secure approvals for monthly billing and earned value reports.
- Develop and maintain project schedules for small to mid-sized initiatives.
- Analyze project targets, goals, job cost summaries, and other relevant reports.
- Notify the Superintendent and Project Manager regarding resource management and crew composition impacts.
- Establish initial budgets and manage updates, reviewing weekly job cost summaries while advising the Project Manager.
- Generate estimates for change orders and collaborate with pre-construction teams on original bids.
- Work with pre-construction and project teams to manage job transitions, communicate project requirements, and formulate initial procurement plans and budgets.
- Prepare material quantity take-offs, scoping documents, and delivery terms to support procurement processes.
- Solicit and evaluate proposals, making recommendations for procurement decisions to the Project Manager.
- Prepare field purchase orders and secure approvals for major purchases.
- Compile monthly financial reports and engage in project financial reviews.
- Assist the Project Manager in approving and coding project invoices.
- Generate and obtain approvals for technical documentation, including constructability reports and inspection records.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent and Field Project Engineer to produce required as-built records.
- Oversee work package closures, punch lists, and project turnover processes, approving pre- and post-pour checklists.
- Collect documentation to assess the impact of potential contract changes, disputes, and claims.
- Lead LEAN/SQP initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual terms and generate impact notices as necessary.
- Review compliance reports related to prevailing wage, workforce utilization, and MBE/SBE participation, advising the Project Manager of any issues.
- Collaborate with Safety and Risk Management to manage injury reports and assist with case management.
- Adhere to company recruitment and hiring guidelines.
- May conduct new-hire orientations and process E-Verify.
- May assist in tracking and completing training requirements with project management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in construction-related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret business documents, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Familiarity with construction software such as Primavera and Timberline.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and evaluate team strengths and weaknesses.
- Proactive approach to maximizing return on investment.
