Position Overview

This role is a key contributor within the Peraton Labs Network Systems and Cyber Mission Sector team, focusing on a customer engagement in a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and enhance sophisticated research infrastructure systems while ensuring robust security measures.
  • Conduct system administration for both Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms, including:
    • Management of Windows and Linux server environments
    • Integration of government and commercial off-the-shelf solutions
    • Utilization of virtualization technologies
    • Understanding of networking and TCP/IP protocols
    • Management of storage solutions
    • Facilitation of remote access capabilities
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT and networking hardware and software in both classified and unclassified settings; activate network ports and manage patching as necessary.
  • Engage with clients and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Develop and maintain a complex and diverse development environment.
  • Create and manage system images for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Set up new systems and apply best practice security configurations for computers, servers, and network devices.
  • Regularly perform updates for systems and anti-virus tools.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, networking devices, and software.
  • Implement physical security controls.
  • Physically set up, connect, and power computers in secure environments for new initiatives; activate network ports and manage patching as needed.
  • Establish backup mechanisms tailored to program requirements; conduct system and data backups and maintain logs in accordance with security protocols; regularly practice recovery procedures.
  • Develop custom solutions or recommend commercial tools to automate audit processes where necessary, such as automated log rotation and alert mechanisms for audit failures.
  • Assist the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with audit-related tasks as required.
  • Formulate and execute approved procedures for sanitizing and releasing system components and media.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of system functionalities, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures.
  • Complete all required training in a timely manner.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with six (6) years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with four (4) years of experience; or a Ph.D. with two (2) years of experience. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration and network engineering.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and delivering IT and telecommunications systems and solutions.
  • Ability to manage complex projects as a senior contributor within a collaborative team environment.
  • Possession of an active TS SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to effectively engage with clients and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Strong communication skills essential for collaboration within an integrated team of clients, subcontractors, and Peraton personnel.
  • Solid understanding of contemporary computer network operations and capability development processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of fundamental principles of modern computer networking, including hardware, software, tools, protocols, and Internet architecture.
  • Experience in managing and executing large-scale software development and sustainment projects.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Experience working with operational mission partners within the Department of Defense (DoD).
