Position Overview

This role is a key component of the Peraton Labs Network Systems and Cyber Mission Sector team, focusing on providing support for various cybersecurity initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and enhance intricate research infrastructure systems while ensuring their security integrity.
  • Conduct system administration for both Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.
    • Manage server systems for Windows and Linux

    • Facilitate remote access solutions
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT and networking hardware/software in both classified and unclassified environments; activate network ports and patch networks as necessary.
  • Engage with clients and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Develop and maintain a sophisticated and diverse development environment.
  • Create and manage images for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Configure new systems while applying best practice security measures on computers, servers, and network devices.
  • Regularly perform updates for systems and anti-virus tools.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, networking devices, and software.
  • Implement physical security controls.
  • Physically set up, cable, and power computers in both classified and unclassified environments for new projects or additions; activate network ports and patch networks as required.
  • Develop backup mechanisms tailored to program-specific requirements; conduct system and data backups and archive logs according to security protocols; routinely practice system and data recovery procedures.
  • Design custom solutions or recommend commercial tools to automate audit processes where existing tools may lack functionality. Examples include automated log rotation, alert mechanisms for audit failures, or scripts for detecting inactive accounts.
  • Assist the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with audit tasks as necessary.
  • Formulate and execute approved procedures for sanitizing and releasing system components and media.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of system functions, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures.
  • Complete all required training in a timely manner.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with six (6) years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with four (4) years of experience; or a Ph.D. with two (2) years of experience. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Proven experience in Windows and/or Linux server administration and network engineering.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and delivering IT and telecommunications systems and solutions.
  • Ability to contribute to complex projects as a senior member of a development team, collaborating with both clients and subcontractors.
  • Possession of an active TS SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to effectively engage with clients and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Strong communication skills essential for working within an integrated team comprising clients, subcontractors, and Peraton personnel.
  • Solid grasp of modern computer network operations and capability development processes.
  • Thorough understanding of fundamental principles of computer networking, including hardware, software, associated tools, protocols, and Internet architecture.
  • Experience managing and executing large-scale software development and sustainment projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Experience collaborating with operational mission partners within the Department of Defense (DoD).
