Position Overview

This role is a key component of the Peraton Labs Network Systems and Cyber Mission Sector team, focusing on supporting a vital customer site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and enhance intricate research infrastructure systems while ensuring robust security measures.
  • Conduct system administration for both Linux and Microsoft Windows environments, including:
    • Management of Windows and Linux server systems
    • Integration of GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions
    • Utilization of virtualization technologies
    • Networking and TCP/IP protocols management
    • Storage solutions implementation
    • Remote access configuration
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT/networking hardware and software in both classified and unclassified environments; manage network port activations as necessary.
  • Engage with customers and oversee subcontractor tasking effectively.
  • Establish and maintain a sophisticated development environment.
  • Create and manage images for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Set up new systems and enforce best practice security configurations across computers, servers, and network devices.
  • Regularly update systems and anti-virus tools to maintain security integrity.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and networking devices.
  • Implement physical security controls as required.
  • Physically configure and connect computers in various environments for new projects or expansions; manage network port activations as necessary.
  • Develop backup mechanisms tailored to program-specific requirements; execute system and data backups and maintain logs according to security protocols; routinely practice data recovery procedures.
  • Craft custom solutions or recommend commercial tools to automate audit processes where necessary, such as automated log rotation and alerts for audit failures.
  • Assist the ISSM in performing audit-related tasks as required.
  • Formulate and execute approved procedures for sanitizing and releasing system components and media.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of system functionalities, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures.
  • Complete mandatory training in a timely manner.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with six (6) years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with four (4) years of experience; or a Ph.D. with two (2) years of experience. Alternatively, four years of additional related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Proven experience in Windows and/or Linux server administration and network engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deliver IT and telecommunications systems and solutions.
  • Capacity to manage complex projects as a senior contributor within a collaborative development team.
  • Possession of an active TS SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in customer engagement and subcontractor oversight.
  • Strong communication skills essential for collaboration within an integrated team of customers, subcontractors, and Peraton personnel.
  • Thorough understanding of modern computer network operations and capability development processes.
  • Solid grasp of fundamental principles of computer networking, including hardware, software, tools, protocols, and Internet architecture.
  • Experience in managing and executing large-scale software development and sustainment projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with operational mission partners within the Department of Defense.
