Key Responsibilities

This role is a vital component of the Peraton Labs Network Systems and Cyber Mission Sector team, contributing to a significant customer initiative.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Design, implement, and enhance intricate research infrastructure systems while ensuring their security integrity.
  • Conduct system administration for both Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.
    • Manage Windows and Linux server operations
    • Integrate Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS), Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), and open-source solutions
    • Utilize virtualization technologies
    • Apply networking principles and TCP/IP protocols
    • Oversee storage solutions
    • Facilitate remote access capabilities
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT and networking hardware/software in both classified and unclassified environments; manage network port activations and patching as necessary.
  • Engage with clients and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Develop and maintain a sophisticated and diverse development environment.
  • Create and sustain images for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Configure new systems and enforce best practice security configurations for computers, servers, and network devices.
  • Regularly perform system and anti-virus updates.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, networking devices, and software.
  • Implement physical security measures.
  • Physically set up, connect, and power computers in both classified and unclassified settings for new initiatives; manage network port activations and patching as necessary.
  • Establish data backup mechanisms tailored to program requirements; execute system and data backups and archive logs according to security protocols; routinely practice data recovery procedures.
  • Develop custom solutions or recommend commercial tools to automate audit processes where existing tools fall short. Examples include automated log management, alert mechanisms for audit failures, or scripts for identifying inactive accounts.
  • Assist the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) with audit tasks as required.
  • Formulate and implement approved procedures for sanitizing and releasing system components and media.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of system functionalities, security policies, technical safeguards, and operational security measures.
  • Complete mandatory training in a timely manner.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with six (6) years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with four (4) years of experience; or a Ph.D. with two (2) years of experience. Alternatively, four years of additional related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Proven experience in Windows and/or Linux server administration and network engineering.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and delivering IT and telecommunications systems and solutions.
  • Ability to manage complex projects as a senior contributor within a collaborative team of customer and subcontractor personnel.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Capability to interface effectively with clients and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Strong communication skills essential for collaboration within an integrated team comprising customers, subcontractors, and Peraton personnel.
  • Solid grasp of contemporary computer network operations and capability development processes.
  • Thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of modern computer networking, including hardware, software, associated tools, protocols, and Internet architecture.
  • Experience in managing and executing large-scale software development and sustainment projects.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Experience working with operational mission partners within the Department of Defense (DoD).
