Role Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for extensive travel to service, maintain, and initiate specified KHS filling and packaging machinery. This role serves as a vital communication bridge between our clients and the company, ensuring exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives travel assignments from scheduling teams and arranges logistics to meet customer timelines.
- Engages with clients to identify machine issues, conducting preliminary troubleshooting to locate problems.
- Executes hands-on electrical and mechanical repairs on designated KHS USA equipment, ensuring optimal functionality as per specifications; collaborates with the Parts department to procure necessary components.
- Diagnoses and modifies programs within Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Inspects and documents any missing or bypassed safety mechanisms on KHS USA machinery, facilitating repairs or replacements as needed.
- Educates clients on effective operation and maintenance practices; may assist operators with adjustments for varying packaging sizes or formats; provides initial invoices for client approval.
- Operates under the guidance of senior technicians to commission new machines, verifying power systems and wiring; adheres to lockout/tagout protocols to assess machine functionality; ensures proper product flow and collaborates with internal teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Prepares detailed, accurate, and timely reports including Equipment Acceptance Reports, Service Work Reports, and Expense Reports for customer engagements; maintains communication with KHS internal staff regarding service activities; submits reports within three weeks post-job completion. Regularly reviews customer spare parts inventory and recommends additional orders to support effective equipment maintenance.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering, complemented by strong mechanical skills or equivalent training.
- In-depth knowledge of machinery within the beverage and packaging sector, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills for addressing technical challenges.
- Demonstrated flexibility, assertiveness, and organizational capabilities.
- Confident demeanor and professional appearance.
- Willingness to travel extensively, up to 90% of the time.
