Position Overview

Michigan State University College of Law is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty role at the Full Professor level within the Tenure System Faculty Appointment System. The College is particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate outstanding teaching and research capabilities to occupy the prestigious Chair of Matrimonial and Family Law. This chair is the first fully endowed position in the history of the Law College and is aimed at recognizing faculty with a solid research focus in matrimonial and family law, addressing matters such as marriage, marriage equality, spousal support, property division, child custody, child support, and various aspects of family formation and dissolution. The College is committed to attracting individuals who are dedicated to excellence in both teaching and scholarly contributions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engage in a robust scholarly agenda that promotes an aspect of matrimonial or family law.
  2. Serve as a prominent figure in national, regional, and local conferences, symposia, and discussions to enhance understanding of matrimonial and family law issues.
  3. Instruct courses in family law (including matrimonial law) and other subjects as determined by the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs.
  4. Contribute to the promotion and development of MSU College of Law programs.
  5. Actively participate in service activities at the college and university level, as well as in national organizations.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Law or a related field.

Essential Skills
