Senior Analytics Leader - Remote

Full Time Permanent Position

Work Arrangement: remote

Compensation Range: $125,800 - $188,600, plus annual bonus

The Data Science division at NiSource represents the newly formed advanced analytics sector of the organization. We are assembling a skilled team that utilizes state-of-the-art tools and methodologies to address our company's most significant analytical challenges. With a robust team culture and a dedication to innovative problem-solving, the solutions we develop will provide a competitive edge for our organization for years to come.

This Senior Analytics Leader will report to the Enterprise Data and Analytics Organization and act as a technical advisor within the Data Science division to:

  • Develop and implement sophisticated analytical models utilizing Machine Learning and Statistical methods
  • Conduct thorough data exploration and mining activities
  • Serve as a specialist in converting complex datasets into strategic insights and actionable recommendations
  • Uncover business narratives revealed by data and communicate them effectively to fellow scientists, business stakeholders, and management at various levels
  • Create and evaluate heuristics
  • Generate business intelligence reports, dashboards, visualizations, and other advanced analytical outputs that effectively convey the business narrative and provide well-supported recommendations with tangible impact.

Your duties may encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a mentor and guide to other Data Scientists within the organization
  • Lead project teams and engage in multidisciplinary analytics initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership independently
  • Design innovative processes and construct large, complex datasets
  • Execute statistical modeling and experimental design
  • Validate and test predictive models
  • Conduct scalable data research both on-premises and in the cloud

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years of experience in data science, data analysis, or a related field
  • 5+ years of proficiency in statistical and database programming languages (SQL, Python, R, Spark, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience applying machine learning techniques such as NLP, image recognition, boosted trees, or similar tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or advanced degree in statistics, data science, physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers and architects
  • Proven experience leading a team of analytics professionals towards a unified objective
  • Familiarity with data governance practices in the analytics domain
