About the Job

We are seeking a skilled psychologist to join our team at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in trauma-informed therapy and psychological testing and assessment for culturally and linguistically diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapy services as a Mental Health Professional: 80%
    • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients utilizing specialized knowledge and skills, develop patient care plans based on defined area of clinical expertise, risk, and overall patient care complexity.
    • Conduct diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, individual, group, couple, and family interventions.
    • Prepare and complete mandated documentation within prescribed timelines, including diagnostic assessments, individual treatment plans, progress notes, termination summaries, safety assessments, required screenings (CASII/SDQ, PHQ-9, CAGE, etc.).
    • Maintain daily productivity expectations as defined for outpatient psychologist.
    • Identify desired patient outcomes, evaluate, and monitor patient's outcome and response to care, using current best practice guidelines and developed CUHCC clinical protocols in a cultural context.
    • Plan, implement, and conduct patient/family education, as appropriate within the clinical encounter.
    • Document patient care in the electronic health record, communicating significant changes in patient status according to established clinic procedures and timelines.
    • Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service by participating as an active member of the patient care team in an integrated setting.
    • Coordinate services with the client's other health service providers, such as primary care providers, targeted case managers, ARMHS workers, psychiatry providers, upon consent of the client.
    • Meet mandated annual requirements for continuing education per the professional's licensing board.
  • Conduct Psychological Assessment and Evaluation: 20%
    • Select, administer, score, and interpret psychological tests to acquire information on individuals' cognitive ability and functioning, intelligence, achievements, interests, or personalities in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Use psychological testing and assessment to diagnose, treat, or refer individuals with a variety of mental health conditions, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disability, mild cognitive deficit, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and personality disorders.
    • Administer a variety of testing battery, both self-report and performance-based measures, that examines attention, memory, executive functioning, verbal and non-verbal intellectual functioning, and ability, behavioral, and personality functioning.
    • Acknowledge and accommodate the linguistic diversity of our clientele, with approximately 50% of individuals served at our mental health clinic primarily speaking non-English languages.
    • Refer clients to other specialists, institutions, or support services as needed, including neuropsychological evaluation.
    • Engage in collaborative efforts with psychologists and neuropsychologists across various departments of the University of Minnesota to enhance testing and assessment methodologies within communities where measures have not been previously validated.
    Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Independently licensed mental health professional as defined by MN statute as a licensed psychologist.
  • Ph.D. or Psych.D. plus at least one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in providing psychological testing and assessment using both self-report and performance-based measures in the domains attention, memory, executive functioning, verbal and non-verbal intellectual functioning, and ability, behavioral, and personality functioning.
  • Experience in providing clinical services to immigrant, refugee, or other underserved populations.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Somali, or any South East Asian language.
  • Experience and training in Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Experience in providing care in a multicultural practice setting.
