About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Naval Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Electric Boat. As a key member of our Planning Yard Fleet Support Engineering department, you will play a critical role in the design, construction, and maintenance of state-of-the-art submarines for the U.S. Navy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, execution, and certification of ongoing fleet maintenance and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availability work for commissioned U.S. Navy submarines.
  • Collaborate with the Availability Support Group (ASG) to provide technical support for non-nuclear technical support for commissioned VIRGINIA, OHIO, and SEAWOLF Class submarines.
  • Develop and implement effective configuration management and quality assurance processes for drawings and technical variance documentation (TVD) applicable to commissioned submarines.
  • Lead internal and external meetings, develop meeting minutes, and execute action plans utilizing teams of engineers, designers, and technical support personnel.
  • Assist in the resolution of ongoing/emergent issues using independent judgment and vision for new processes and products.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance or ability to be granted a DoD Security Clearance.
  • 2+ years of experience related to US Navy vessel design, engineering, and/or integration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (marine, mechanical, structural, or electrical).
  • Proficient with JCALS, MRP II, ELCADD, CITIS, and/or ATIS applications.
  • Knowledge of VIRGINIA, OHIO, and/or SEAWOLF Class design products and processes.
  • Understanding of VA Class Construction, Maintenance, and configuration management.
  • Understanding of submarine maintenance and logistics products (e.g., eLARs, eDFSs, ShipAlts).
  • Demonstrated ability in multi-tasking and technical project management.
  • Experience with TI development and oversight and EVMS.
  • Familiarity with AWPs, TGIs, material procurement and certification process and procedures.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and/or machine learning applications.
  • On-site support experience (EWAs, deck plate support, shipyard liaison).
Skills
  • Highly motivated and able to interact with multiple EB engineering and design departments.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage technical projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally represent EB when interacting with US Navy personnel and industry partners with integrity and commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical information.
  • Ability to function both independently and within a team environment, and be able to facilitate internal and external team meetings with self-sufficiency.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
