Position Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer - II/Senior/Spec/Principal role is essential for supporting the design, testing, and construction of various submarine classes, including the LOS ANGELES, OHIO, SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA, and COLUMBIA Classes.

Key Responsibilities:
Engineers will be responsible for ensuring compliance with submarine safety (SUBSAFE) standards. This includes:

  • Conducting internal audits and training sessions.
  • Developing Design Review Procedure documentation.
  • Creating and maintaining class and ship design reports.
  • Managing class SUBSAFE test form certification lists.
  • Preparing the submarine sea trial certification booklet and SUBSAFE audit plans.
  • Reviewing submarine safety certification boundaries.
  • Monitoring SUBSAFE deviations and waivers.

Additionally, the role involves:

  • Conceptualizing, designing, procuring, fabricating, and installing equipment for underwater shock test vehicles.
  • Supporting shock vehicle test programs at government test sites and documenting results.
  • Addressing fastener-related issues during design and construction phases.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A BS/MS/Technical degree in mechanical or marine engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
  • The ability to climb ladders and a willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as needed.
  • Readiness to travel as required.
  • Experience from organizations outside of operations.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is highly regarded.
