Job Title: Technical Expert for Ship Control Systems

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Expert for Ship Control Systems to join our team at Naval Sea Systems Command. As a Technical Expert, you will play a critical role in the design, construction, conversion, and repair of complex systems on nuclear powered submarines.

About the Job
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, construct, convert, and repair Fly-By-Wire (FBW) Ship Control Systems, Hull Mechanical and Electrical Monitoring Control (HMC) systems, Hovering Missile Compensation Control Systems (HMCCS), and Portable Ship Control Systems (PSCS) on nuclear powered submarines.
  • Act as the SUPSHIP technical expert for matters relating to the design, construction, repair, testing, certification, and operation of Submarine Flight Critical Component (SFCC), FBW SCS, HMCCS, HMC, and PSCS.
  • Make final decisions on work problems presented by branch personnel and ensure branch goals meet department and command goals.
  • Prioritize branch work products to meet critical/emergent customer actions and advise and instruct branch personnel on both technical and administrative matters.
  • Provide continuity of Department management focus in areas of continuous process improvement, facilitation of team building, acquisition reform initiatives, quality improvement, and identification and mitigation of technical risk.
Requirements
  • Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NH-02 (GS-11) or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer overseeing the design, construction, conversion or repair activities for ships or submarines to ensure compliance with terms and regulations.
