Position Overview

As a key member of the General Dynamics Electric Boat team, the Naval Facilities Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, construction, and upkeep of advanced submarine facilities for the U.S. Navy. This position offers the opportunity to engage in innovative engineering projects that are vital to national defense.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage projects related to the safety, functionality, and visual appeal of government facilities at various naval bases.
  • Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for various construction and outfitting projects.
  • Collaborate with architects and government officials to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders regarding project progress and challenges.
  • Travel as required to oversee project implementations.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial and government facility design and engineering.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in on-site construction management and oversight of multiple contractors.
  • Familiarity with government regulations and commercial building codes.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and related design software.

Skills Required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical, structural, electrical, and ventilation systems.
  • Ability to comprehend submarine systems within a commercial context.
