Role of the Firefinder

The term "Firefinder" refers to advanced radar technology that utilizes radio and sound waves to detect various threats, including mortars and aircraft. As a Field Artillery Firefinder Radar Operator, you will manage specialized equipment designed to locate and alert defensive units about potential targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain effective communication through radio and wire systems
• Construct protective structures for field artillery operations
• Conduct regular maintenance and checks on Firefinder radar systems

Skills Development

In this position, you will acquire essential skills that are valuable in any civilian profession, including:
• Tactical field operations and combat communication
• Proficiency in calculating and recording speed, direction, and altitude

• Ability to maintain concentration over extended periods

Compensation and Training

Instead of incurring costs for training, you will earn a salary while you learn. As a member of the Army National Guard, you will receive valuable training in this role while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for educational assistance.

Training for Field Artillery Firefinder Radar Operators includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational soldiering skills, followed by eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training, which combines classroom instruction with practical field exercises.
